This section will explain the layout and functions of the main menu of The MapAble Loader.

Menu bar

1. Menu bar
The menu bar has six menu items.  The following items are listed:
 

File

 
The File menu lets the user add  New folders and Sub-folders as well as the place to exit the program.
 

Edit

 
In the Edit menu the user have a button to delete a selected layer from the spatial database.
 

Insert

 
The Insert menu lets the user select a shapefile and upload it to the spatial database
 

View

 
The View menu lets the user toggle the status bar on/off
 
 

Help

 
The Help menu takes the user to this online helpfile as well as the About box with information on the version of the software.

Button bar

Cut, Copy, Paste tools

 
This is the normal tools for deleting and duplicating files
 

Upload Button

 
The Upload button lets the user select a shapefile and upload it to the spatial database
 

Layer view options

 
These are normal tools for changing the way the layers appear in the Layers list

Workspaces

3. Workspaces
 
The registered workspaces of the user are listed in the root of the directory.

Sub folders

4. Sub folders
The Sub-folders are folders created by the user to organise his/her own datalayers once they are uploaded to the spatial database.  The user can add or delete folders as they want.

Layers

5. Layers
The uploaded layers are listed in the Layer list box.  By double clicking and right clicking on individual layers, the user can edit them, add metadata and update a layer.
