Output modes and charts
 
Different type of queries generate different values.  Sometimes only one value is calculated, sometimes two values form part of the output (e.g. Nearest neighbour can list the name and distance of feature).
The answers are always indicated by a %1 and %2 in the mask.
 
The two codes for values are:
%1 = the name of an entity (e.g.. grasslands or name of school)
%2 = the amount (e.g. amount of kilometres, or number of schools)
 
Depending on the type of query,  different output modes can be set:

Default

1. Default
The default output mode is predetermined and will always add all the relevant outputs to the query.  A typical result will look like this:

Value only

In this case, only the %1 value will be displayed in the output:

Custom

In the Custom Output mode, the user can decide which of the values as well as additional text he/she wants to add to the output.

Chart

4. Chart
When the user is intersecting two layers and calculating the proportion of the parts per type,  the result can be shown in a chart:
 
  • Type - Type of chart (see below)
  • 3D chart - toggle 3D view of the chart true/false
  • Width - Width of the graphic in pixels
  • Height - Height of the graphic in pixels

When to use a chart:
The chart functionality is specifically designed to work with the % area calc tool.  It is not advisable to use with any of the other analysis tools.

Mask

The Mask shows how the output is constructed.  When in Custom mode,  the mask can also be edited to add additional text. Here is an example:

Separator

6. Separator
When a query lists a number of values (e.g. land use in the study area), the user can decide if he/she wants to have the output in a single row or in a list format. 
There are a couple of separators to apply:

Comma - when all results need to be displayed in a single row
